The Doula Advantage

The second book that I read is called The Doula Advantage – Your Complete Guide to Having an Empowered and Positive Birth with the Help of a Professional Childbirth Assistant by Rachel Gurevich.  This book is now out of print and that makes me sad.  I thought I read the first book quickly, but that didn’t even compare to how quickly I read this one.  If anybody is wondering if and/or why they need a Doula for support during pregnancy and beyond, I highly recommend reading this book.  Apparently, I am not the only one who thinks so … all of the reviews I was able to find online for this book before purchasing it were positive.  I couldn’t find it anywhere, so I had to buy it used, with a hefty price tag.  I will definitely cherish having this book in my Lending Library.  Some points that I took from this book that I plan on using in my own practices are the use of a birth ball, helping my clients come up with a ‘Wish List’ versus a ‘Birth Plan’, recommending that my clients always ask the B.R.A.N.D. questions, Doula Dancing, and a few other personal aspects that I would like to offer my clients, in addition to the ‘typical’ services that a Doula would provide.  Just reviewing everything that I took in from this book gets me excited all over again at the prospect of knowing that my dream is so much closer now that I am working so hard towards it.  I truly envy all of the Mommas-To-Be that will be in my care!
