Being Born: The Doula’s Role

Being Born:  The Doula’s Role is written by Jewel Hernandez, a certified doula, who has attended over 250 births.

It is a picture book, especially for children.  The artwork is by R. Michael Mithuna, an Arizona-based artist specializing in watercolor.  It helps siblings understand the role of the doula for the family.

I really like that it explores all kinds of births in all kinds of places and does not just focus on hospital births in America … it lets kids know that there are other ways.
