The Birth Process (short and sweet)

The birth process is divided into three stages.

The first stage lasts 12-14 hours and ends with the cervix (opening to the womb) fully dilated (opened) and the woman ready to push the baby down the birth canal.

The second stage is the actual birth and can last from minutes to three hours.

The third stage is the delivery of the placenta, or afterbirth.
